Title:

Colo.: My high school classmate

Message:

Unlike you, I am not in Colorado. I wish I were, but I am not. I do, however, care very deeply about the state and about Amendment 64, the Initiative to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol.

That is why I took the time this week to send a Facebook message to a high school classmate whom I haven't seen in many years. She lives in Golden now.

It was a simple message. I told her about the initiative, explained how important it was to me, and asked her to vote "Yes." There were a few additional details, but that was pretty much it.

I am telling you this because I need you to do the same thing. Not to my high school classmate, of course, but to whomever you know who might be on the fence about Amendment 64.

This is going to be a very close election. Whether Colorado makes history by ending marijuana prohibition or not might come down to a few thousand votes. Hundreds of thousands of Coloradans are still undecided on the measure, but they are voting now, both by mail and, on Monday, in-person.

These undecided voters will either vote with their own thoughts in their head or they will be thinking about the Facebook message or email or call they received from their friend or relative asking them to vote "Yes." Put yourself in their position and imagine the difference.

The power is literally in your hands. And it is so simple to use it. So, please, whether it is today or over the weekend, start reaching out to some people with a very simple message: "Please vote Yes on Amendment 64."

If you do, we will win.
