Medical marijuana policy debated in Assembly Public Safety Committee

Message:

On Tuesday, April 10, the Assembly Public Safety Committee will convene to debate, and potentially vote on, two contrasting pieces of medical marijuana legislation. You are receiving this email because your assemblymember sits on this committee. Please take a moment to email your assemblymember in support of explicit legal protections and regulations for medical marijuana dispensaries and in opposition to making medical marijuana identification cards mandatory.

Asm. Tom Ammiano has introduced a bill — AB 2312 — that would create the Board of Medical Marijuana Enforcement to oversee the medical marijuana industry in California. This bill is an important step forward to provide clear legal protections for dispensaries and cultivators, and to make it harder for localities to ban collectives and cooperatives. Please ask your assemblymember to support this sensible proposal.

The same committee will be hearing testimony on a bill introduced by Asm. Nora Campos — AB 2465 — that would make obtaining medical marijuana cards mandatory for all patients and caregivers across California. Please ask your assemblymember to oppose this obtrusive proposal.

Thanks for voicing your concerns. Please pass this along to others in your neighborhood so they too can stand up for patient rights.
