Title:
California Assembly approves AB 2312!
Message:
Good news! Yesterday afternoon, the state Assembly approved Assemblyman Tom Ammiano’s bill to clearly recognize dispensaries and to create the Board of Medical Marijuana Enforcement to oversee the medical marijuana industry in California.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to contact your Assembly members! AB 2312 passed with 41 votes: the exact number that was needed. It now moves to the Senate.
Meanwhile, the two Senate bills to improve marijuana policy are still facing a deadline today. If you haven’t written your senators in favor of Sen. Mark Leno’s SB 1506 and SB 1186 yet, this is your last chance: Please ask your senator to support SB 1506, which would reclassify drug possession (which can include hashish) from a possible felony to a misdemeanor. Please also write him or her in support of SB 1186, which would offer clearer recognition to dispensaries complying with the attorney general’s medical marijuana guidelines. Unlike AB 2312, SB 1186 would not create a new oversight board with state registration.
Thanks for all you do for sensible and compassionate marijuana policies!
