Title:
Calif.: Get registered, get informed
Message:
On November 6, half of the California Senate and the entire Assembly will be up for election. Additionally, Californians will vote on Prop. 36, a ballot measure seeking to reform California’s three strikes to ensure that non-serious and non-violent crimes – like simple drug possession – are not grounds for a life sentence. Finally, many local ballots will contain measures effecting medical marijuana laws and ordinances. However, you will not be able to exercise your right to vote if you are not properly registered!
The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming election is Monday, October 22. Your voter registration application must be postmarked or submitted electronically by this date. Please visit the California Secretary of State’s website to register to vote or to ensure you’re properly registered.
After you’ve registered or double-checked the accuracy of your current registration, please take a moment to peruse MPP’s California voter guide. All candidates for California State Senate and Assembly are listed. If they’ve taken a position on marijuana policy – via statements or votes – we’ve detailed that for you. Feel free to forward this guide to friends and family in California so they can find out where their candidates stand on marijuana policy.
