Title:

Calif.: Assembly to vote soon on medical marijuana dispensary bill

Message:

Ask your assembly member to support a regulated medical marijuana program today!

By the end of the week, the California Assembly will vote on a bill requiring the state to regulate the medical marijuana industry. The federal prosecutor for the Eastern District of California, Benjamin Wagner, recently explained that states with well regulated laws face less federal intervention than the “free-for-all” that is California. Although MPP strongly decries the enforcement actions taken by the feds against responsible medical marijuana providers in the Golden State, it appears now – more than ever – Sacramento must act to protect safe access.

AB 473 – authored by Public Safety Chair Tom Ammiano – would create the Division of Medical Marijuana Regulation and Enforcement within the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. This new division would establish statewide standards for the cultivation, manufacturing, testing, transportation, distribution, and sales of medical marijuana and medical marijuana products. Urge your assembly member to support reasonable regulations and bring clarity to California’s medical marijuana program.

The Assembly will take a vote on AB 473 by the end of the week, so now is the time to ask your assembly member to support the bill. Please also ask your friends and neighbors in California to do so as well!
