Calif.: Ask your state officials to stand against federal interference!

Published: October 14, 2011

Less than a week after the U.S. attorneys in California announced that they’d waste your taxpayer dollars by raiding and closing state-legal medical marijuana providers, the DEA used paramilitary tactics while raiding the Northstone Organics co-op in Mendocino County. Please email your assemblymember, state senator, Governor Jerry Brown, and Attorney General Kamala Harris, asking that they publicly denounce federal interference with the California medical marijuana program. Once you’ve sent that email, please call the White House and respectfully ask that they allow states to implement and regulate medical marijuana programs.

The raid on Northstone is especially disturbing because, by all accounts, they went above and beyond to ensure that they complied with state and local laws and regulations. In fact, Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman said Northstone “appears to have followed all of the county's regulations, which cost the cooperative about $8,500 a year.” Surely, this raid signals only the beginning of an escalation of federal interference: ask state officials to denounce these actions today!

Send this alert to your friends and family and make sure to email your state officials. Finally, please also call the White House and ask that they end this nonsense.
