Take action on Election Day

The 2002 general primary election is being held in Arkansas today. This is a great opportunity to affect future policy by selecting candidates that will square off in November's general election.

If you have not already voted today, you should take this time to participate in the electoral process. Polls are open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The secretary of state's office has predicted a 25 percent voter turnout. With such a low turnout expected, the votes of marijuana law reform activists could have a substantial impact.

In addition to voting, you can also ask current legislators to take immediate action in support of patients who need to use medical marijuana.

Please take a few minutes and visit MPP's Arkansas Web site—/AR—and send an e-mail to your elected representatives. Ask them to sign a letter to President Bush that encourages his administration to soften its stance on medical marijuana.

Regardless of the outcome of today's election, current legislators will remain in office through the end of the year.

Your request will not only bolster national efforts to improve medical marijuana policy, but also keep the issue fresh in the minds of Arkansas lawmakers.

Be sure to forward this alert to others in Arkansas. Legislators will only take action if they hear from many constituents.
