Medical marijuana makes headlines in Arkansas

Medical marijuana continues to make headlines in Arkansas, even though the state legislature has no regular session in 2002.

Sunday's edition of the Morning News of Northwest Arkansas included two stories on medical marijuana.

One story features the travails of a local medical marijuana patient, while the other provides an overview of the issue, including the intention of Senator John Riggs, D-Little Rock, to sponsor medical marijuana legislation in 2003.

These stories provide an excellent opportunity to show support for medical marijuana.

Please take a few minutes and visit MPP's Arkansas web site—/AR—where you can review the recent news stories and directly e-mail your state representative and state senator.

Tell your legislators about the medical marijuana news and ask them to support Sen. Riggs' efforts to protect patients. Several pre-written letters are provided for your convenience.

MPP's Arkansas web site also contains tips for writing letters-to-the-editor on medical marijuana. A published letter will keep the topic fresh in the minds of citizens and possibly spur them to action.
