Ark.: Deadline approaching; register to vote now

Message:

This November, Arkansas voters will be asked for their opinion on Issue 5, an initiative that would allow patients with certain debilitating illnesses and a recommendation from their physician to use marijuana and to purchase it from a network of dispensaries throughout the state. But in order to vote, you have to be registered.

The deadline for registering to vote is Tuesday, October 9.

Click here to download a voter registration form. You can also get one from your local county clerk, public library, public assistance office, Arkansas National Guard office, or by calling the Arkansas State Elections Division at 1-800-247-3312. If you think you might be registered but need to make sure, or just need to verify your polling place, visit www.voterview.org.

A recent poll pegged support for the measure at 47%, with opposition at 46%. In other words, this election is going to be close and every vote counts. There’s no excuse not to vote. Election day is Tuesday, November 6. Early in-person voting opens October 22. Contact your local county clerk for information on early voting locations. If you can’t make it to the polls on election day, you can request an absentee ballot.

Thanks, and don’t forget to vote “YES” on Issue 5!

P.S. The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival is featuring a much-talked-about new medical marijuana documentary, Code of the West, on Sunday, October 14. Visit the festival’s website for ticket information.
