Thank Attorney General Eric Holder

As I'm sure you've heard, last Monday the Obama administration announced a sweeping policy change related to medical marijuana. A policy memo from the Justice Department directed United States Attorneys - the officials appointed by the president to prosecute federal offenses - not to prosecute medical marijuana offenses if the potential defendant was not committing a crime under state law.

This new policy is a huge victory for the medical marijuana community, which now knows that as long as they are operating legally under state law, they no longer have to fear raids from the DEA or other federal law enforcement. The decision is especially important for Arizonans, who now know that if our medical marijuana initiative passes in November 2010, the program will be able to operate without federal interference.

While we think it's important to let government officials know when we disagree with their policies, we also think it's important to applaud them when they do the right thing.

Because this new policy is so critical for patients and caregivers in Arizona, we have set up a system where you can send an e-mail to the Department of Justice thanking them for putting patients above politics. Just click here to get started. All you need to do is fill in your information and, if you want, a personalized message. Don't worry if you can't think of anything; there is a form letter you can use instead.

Thank you for taking the time to reach out, and, as always, thank you for your continued support. We can't do it without you.
