Meet our new chairperson: Diane Manchester
The Arizona Medical Marijuana Policy Project (AMMPP) has exciting news to share! We're very happy to report that Diane Manchester, a medical marijuana patient from Tucson, has agreed to serve as our campaign chair. Diane suffers from multiple sclerosis and glaucoma, which has forced her on to disability from her job as a civilian administrator with the Phoenix Police Department.
Diane's story is one that's all too common. She has a serious illness, successfully managed with medical marijuana as part of her treatment protocol, but she must live in fear because state law considers her a criminal.
“I joined the campaign because I want to do everything I can to make sure people like me don't have to be afraid anymore,” said Manchester. “I'm not doing anything wrong. No one should be able to tell me I don't have the right to get relief from my disease.”
It's a busy time for our campaign. In addition to Diane joining our effort, we're nearing the end of our signature drive. We've now collected over 200,000 signatures, more than 80% of the way to our goal.
But we still need your help to get over the finish line. After factoring in all expenses, it costs about two dollars to collect a single signature. Your generous contribution will allow us to complete our signature drive, win the election, and enact a common-sense, compassionate medical marijuana law that assures no Arizonan will ever again face prosecution for following his or her doctor's advice.
