Arizona health department issues medical marijuana regulations!

Message:

Two days ago, the Arizona Department of Health Services (DHS) issued its final regulations implementing MPP's medical marijuana law that Arizona voters passed back in November.

The regulations are 92 pages long, so if you're thinking about starting a medical marijuana dispensary in Arizona, you should probably buy a $300 ticket to receive legal advice at one of our two training forums on Monday and Tuesday in Tucson and Phoenix. These forums are being co-hosted by MPP and the Arizona Medical Marijuana Association.

In addition to receiving legal advice from the attorney who wrote our initiative, you can also ask questions of Will Humble, the director of DHS! Please see the lineup of speakers here.

DHS's new regulations raise a lot of questions for potential dispensary operators ...

1.  Will there be a disproportionate number of dispensaries in rural areas, at the expense of people who want to set up shop in Maricopa and Pima Counties?

2.  Will cities have expanded power to limit the number of dispensaries within their own borders?

3.  Will DHS be issuing fewer than the maximum 126 dispensary licenses during the opening round, and then wait a year before issuing a second/final round of licenses?

4.  Will DHS be granting licenses based on the quality of the applications, or will DHS use a random "lottery" system?

Please register now to learn the answers to these questions on Monday or Tuesday — or ask your own questions then, too.
