Title:
Arizona: Act now to stop medical marijuana confiscation bill
Message:
Write your representative today!
Arizona voters approved the Medical Marijuana Act in 2010. Since then, polls have shown support for protecting patients increasing substantially. Thankfully, Arizona State Representative John Kavanagh appears to be backing off his attempts to re-vote on and repeal the measure in 2014. That’s good listening and good leadership.
But other legislators are being more covert. They are pushing – are you ready for this – a new bill that would allow the police to confiscate medical marijuana and then not return it if people are found innocent. Please let your representative know SB 1441 is wrong.
When it comes to certain property in this state, like medical marijuana, a new standard is being created – you are guilty until proven innocent. They say people can be properly compensated if a wrong was committed, but that’s a long-shot and would require going to court.
This type of legislation is not advancing the interests of the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act as approved by voters. It is a backdoor attempt to threaten the program.
This just isn’t acceptable. We need you to act. Please write your representative and ask him or her to respect voters. Then, pass this on to your friends and family in Arizona.
