For years, medical marijuana patients and advocates have argued that the plant works better than single-cannabinoid pharmaceuticals such as Marinol. This study suggests they've been right all along. Researchers measured relief of neuropathic pain in rats, comparing a marijuana extract containing a large amount of cannabidiol (CBD), some THC, and other plant compounds with pure THC or CBD. The extract clearly worked better -- suggesting possible synergy between the plant compounds, including cannabinoids and other components such as terpenes.
