Drug czar response to the Nevada Secretary of State inquiry

Dear Ms. Bilyeu,

This is in response to your letter dated January 14, 2003 addressed to John Walters, Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy within the Executive Office of the President. As a Federal official acting within the scope of duties, including speaking out about the dangers of illegal drugs, delegated to him and the Office of National Drug Control Policy by the President and Congress, Director Walters is immune from enforcement of Nevada's election laws. As a result, Director Walters and the Office of National Drug Control Policy respectfully decline to respond to the complaint accompanying your January 14, 2003 letter.
