Rhode Island Senate to Vote on Medical Marijuana Bill Wednesday PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND—The Senate will debate and vote on medical marijuana bill S.B. 710 on Wednesday, June 1, when the Senate begins session at 4:00 p.m.
S.B. 710 passed the Senate Judiciary Committee with a 9-2 vote on May 19. The legislation would protect seriously ill patients from arrest and imprisonment for using marijuana under the advice of their physicians. The bill is sponsored by Sen. Rhoda Perry (D-Providence) and has 11 cosponsors, including Senate Majority Leader Teresa Paiva-Weed (D-Newport) and Senate President Joseph Montalbano (D-North Providence).
A companion House bill, whose lead sponsor is Rep.
