S 207: An Act to Reduce the Minimum Sentences for Crimes Involving Controlled Substances

This would remove minimum penalties for some controlled substances violations, and reduce some maximum penalties. The sentence for possessing or delivering one to five kilograms with a detectable amount of marijuana would be reduced from 10 to 50 years to up to 20 years. The sentence for possessing or delivering more than five kilgrams with a detectable amount of marijuana would be reduced from 20 years to life to up to 30 years.
This bill passed the General Assembly with more than 90% of the vote. It was vetoed by July 3, 2007
