Illinois: Senate to vote on medical marijuana bill this week

Within days, the Illinois Senate will be voting on SB 650. This will be the first time the Illinois Senate has voted on a medical marijuana law, so we need you to make sure that each and every senator knows just how important this issue is.

Please call you senator immediately and ask him or her to support SB 650.

To get in touch with your senator, call the Illinois state switchboard operator at (217) 782-2000 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and ask to speak to your senator. If you do not know who your senator is, you can click here to find out.

Remember to always be polite and courteous when speaking to the senator or staff member. If you are directed to voicemail, please leave a message, including your name and address so your senator knows that you're a constituent. Your message can be simple: "Please vote in favor of the medical marijuana bill — SB 650. Patients are counting on you to make sure they get the protection they need. Thank you."

After you have called, send your legislators an e-mail asking them to support SB 650. We have provided new form letters specifically intended for this last push, so even if you have already sent an e-mail regarding SB 650, please send this reminder as well.

Please e-mail Nathan Miller at Nathan@mpp.org to report any feedback your senator gives you.

Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project. Please pass this message along to your friends and family in Illinois so that others can join in this last push to pass SB 650.
