H.B. 608: A Bill Relating to Criminal Code, Fines for Felonies, Misdemeanors, Violations, Secs. 13A-5-11, 13A-5-12 Am'd.

This bill would triple the maximum fines for convictions in Alabama. It would make the maximum fines $60,000 for a Class A felony; $30,000 for a Class B felony; $15,000 for a Class C felony; $1,500 for a Class C misdemeanor; $3,000 for a Class B misdemeanor; $6,000 for a Class A misdemeanor; and $600 for a violation. If this bill passed, the maximum fine for first offense possession of marijuana for personal use would be $6,000. The maximum fine for the second offense or possession of marijuna that is not for personal use would be $15,000.
