Internship Application Process
If you are interested in applying for an internship with the Marijuana Policy Project, please carefully follow the following process.
Step #1: COVER LETTER AND RESUME
Please send a one-page cover letter and one- to two-page resume to Alison Green, by e-mailing them to internships@mpp.org or faxing them to 202-232-0442. All e-mail messages should mention the position sought in the subject line. If you fax the documents, please include an e-mail address in the cover letter and/or resume, if possible.
Please do not call the MPP office at this stage.
In your cover letter, please specify (1) how you learned about MPP's job opening, (2) why you are interested in working with MPP in particular, (3) your long-term view of marijuana policy, (4) your position on the larger "war on drugs," and (5) whether you have any experience in marijuana policy in particular (none required). Feel free to include any other information you deem relevant, not to exceed one page.
MPP highly values fastidiousness in writing style, grammar, and spelling.
Note: If you submit your materials to internships@mpp.org, you should receive an immediate, automatically-generated e-mail confirmation. If you do not receive this e-mail within a few minutes, check your bulk or spam folder, as some e-mail programs (particularly Gmail) may misdirect the message there. If this happens, please adjust your spam settings so that you don't miss future job-related communications from MPP (as we will most often follow up by e-mail).
Step #2: Additional Documentation
If you submit a cover letter and résumé, MPP will respond to you within ten days with either a notice of rejection, a request for additional documentation, such as a writing sample, or a request for an interview. Hence, please do not call the MPP office during this stage. (Again, if you do not hear from MPP during this period, please check your bulk or spam folder.)
Step #3: Interview
If the materials from Steps #1 and #2 indicate you are a strong match for the position, then an MPP staff member will schedule a phone and/or in-person interview with you.
Thank you for your interest in MPP. |
