Medical Marijuana Patients - Jim Welch
Once you join MPP’s team as an e-Activist, you will be assigned to a team named after a patient in a medical marijuana state. There are ten teams, and you and your fellow e-Activists will compete against other teams of e-Activists to see who can generate the most letters and calls to Congress. Below, meet some of the medical marijuana patients who are depending on your help -- and if you haven’t yet done so, make sure to join a team to end the arrest and imprisonment of people like these.
About Jim
Affliction / Illness: Multiple sclerosis Age: 55 Occupation: Retired mobility instructor for the blind
Jim Welch is grateful he had access to medical marijuana when he needed to ease the symptoms of multiple sclerosis (MS). At times, his legs would tremble and throb for long periods. Jim tried other medications first, but none were effective for treating his worst symptoms (and he suffered from unbearable side effects). During the two years Jim used medical marijuana, his quality of life dramatically improved. Jim says that Alaska's process for registering as a medical marijuana patient is fraught with red tape and still provides patients with no legal means for acquiring medicine. | | |
