MPP hosted our fourth annual party at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles on June 4, 2009. This was our most exciting and successful to date, with close to 700 supporters coming out to celebrate our 2008 Election Day wins! The party was hosted by actress Fairuza Balk and headlined by the alternative rock giants The Dandy Warhols and featured two live fire performances by Red Swan Entertainment, a roaming magic performance by magician Kevin Viner, a surprise musical performance by The Kyle Gass Project (featuring Kyle Gass of Tenacous D), and DJ action by HunnyPot with a special guest set by David J. of Bauhaus and Love & Rockets.
MPP presented California Assemblyman Tom Ammiano with the Legislative Leadership Award and marijuana reform advocate Todd McCormick with the Lifetime Dedication to Marijuana Policy Reform Award.
Among the many celebrities in attendance were MPP advisory board members Adrianne Curry, Ray Benson, Rob Van Dam, and Hal Sparks; Playboy cover model Carola Madis; members of the bands Cypress Hill and the Kottonmouth Kings; legendary adult film star Ron Jeremy; director and producer Ondi Timoner; musicians Neil Turbin, Don Bolles, Stephen Gilmoure, Spike Keating, Steve Kill, Carina Round, and Jonathan Wilson; actors Billy Miller, John Driscoli, Craig Wayans, and Damien Wayans; legendary rock photographer and artist Justice Howard; NBA superstar Vernon Maxwell; and many more.
